What is a Subcutaneous Brow Lift?
Everybody is different, and everybody ages differently at their own pace. Aside from age, factors like gravity, sun exposure, and daily stress affect us all. You can erase years from your appearance, maintain a natural look, and age more gracefully when you are a candidate for a Brow Lift.
One of the most elegant ways to address facial aging is to elevate the brows. Frequently, many patients experience laxity of the brow that results in a tired, sad, and/or angry appearance. Incisions of less than one inch are made in the hairline directly above the brows and the brow is then re-suspended in a minimally-invasive fashion. The excessive skin that has caused all the drooping is removed and sewn closed. The scar is essentially invisible three months afterwards and the results are long lasting. It requires only local anesthesia and can be done on an outpatient basis.
The Subcutaneous Brow Lift is not a “one-size-fits-all” procedure. Each procedure is customized and tailored specific to the patient and their desired goals. The benefits of the Subcutaneous Brow Lift can smooth away facial creases, lift the brows, and open up the eyes giving you a more youthful appearance.
Am I the ideal patient for a Subcutaneous Brow Lift?
If you are over 40 years old and have started experiencing facial sagging and less sharpness in the oval of your face, then you may benefit from a Subcutaneous Brow Lift.
Does a Subcutaneous Brow Lift require general anesthetic or hospitalization?
It requires only local anesthesia and can be done on an outpatient basis.
How long does the procedure take?
The procedure takes approximately 1 hour.
What is the recovery time? Will there be significant bruising and scarring?
Because we use local anesthesia, there is moderate amounts of swelling immediately after the procedure. About 70% of this swelling is usually gone by the next morning. In regards to scarring, scars are minimal with the majority of patients having none. We ask all of our patients to take Arnica Montana and to eat Kiwi fruit for one week prior to the procedure and one week afterwards. This minimizes bruising to the point that in two weeks almost all of the bruising is gone. Please be sure you do not take any aspirin or blood thinners for one week prior to the procedure.
