What is the Michael Angelo Liquid Face Lift?

Michaelangelo and Bernini were probably the two best sculptures of antiquity, and therefore it is only fitting we should name one of our procedures after one of them. They represent strength, beauty, symmetry, and flawless design. We chose to call our procedure The Michaelangelo Liquid Face Lift because of the statue Pieta and David, two of the most famous statues in the world.

The whole idea behind The Michael Angelo is to combine PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma; which has all of the growth factors – 9 to be exact) with Sculptra® in a one-to-one mixture using a sterile technique to not disrupt the combination’s delicate properties. In addition to, a microneedling session is performed after the injections to increase the flow of blood to the external skin. Microneedling helps to improve skin texture, loose skin, fine lines and wrinkles, pore size, and acne scarring.

The Michaelangelo Liquid Face Lift stimulates tissue regeneration, increases collagen productions, smoothes out lines and wrinkles, and restores an amazing – healthy glow in the skin!

How does The Michael Angelo work?

The Michael Angelo is a three-part procedure.

The First Step: PRP Therapy

This platelet-rich plasma in fractions platelets and growth factors is very useful for tissue regeneration and healing. After the blood is drawn and centrifuged, we concentrate your platelets. When these concentrated platelets are re-injected, they not only turn into healing and activated cells, but also activate dormant ones that have gone into a quiescent state. When injected into the face, it fills and lifts the aging face.

The Second Step: Sculptra® / PRP Injection

A one-to-one mixture with Sculptra® and PRP using a sterile technique to not disrupt the combination’s delicate properties will be used to inject in the face focusing on specific area’s to provide a more youthful appearance.

Sculptra® is a collagen stimulator and an advanced liquid volumizer that is injected into the face to correct volume loss, giving you a more natural-looking appearance. In return, it stimulates your own collagen growth in the right places. The new collagen synthesis will cause the skin to reflect more light which gives the complexion an overall more youthful and rested appearance.

The Third Step: Microneedling

After injections are completed, PRP will also be applied topically to the face for the microneedling session. The purpose of treatment is to generate new collagen and skin tissue for smoother, firmer, and more toned skin. Basically, these needles penetrate your dermis to stimulate your body’s own reaction and healing, which results in elastin and collagen growth.

Is it Safe?

Overall, Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Injections are a safe, effective, and innovative treatment option with no risk of allergic reaction because it is coming from your own body. Patients with a history of heavy smoking, drug, and alcohol use should not have PRP treatment. Medical diagnoses such as platelet dysfunction syndromes, thrombocytopenia, sepsis, hypofibrinogenaemia, hemodynamic instability, acute and chronic infections, chronic liver disease, anti-coagulation therapy, chronic skin diseases or cancer, metabolic and systemic disorders are not candidates for PRP.

Sculptra® is effective and safe. Since Sculptra® does not contain any animal or human components; no allergy testing is needed prior to treatments. As with any injection, it is crucial to go to a qualified, experienced, and knowledgeable physician to administer any type of injection.

Microneedling is safe. However, anything involving needles always comes with some sort of risk factor. There is risk of infection and scarring, if microneedling isn’t done properly—so always make sure the office you’re going to follows proper protocol when it comes to disinfecting and reusing skin devices. Confidently we can state that here at The Murray Center we follow proper protocol, so that our patients can trust they will be receiving the best quality of care.
