Restylane® and Juvéderm® are the answer to long-lasting wrinkle correction. If you’re considering a wrinkle correction treatment, there are a few things you should know: Restylane® and Juvéderm® products are safe and natural cosmetic dermal fillers that restore volume and fullness to the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds, marionette folds, scars and depressions, and will add volume to the face and lips.

Restylane® and Juvéderm® are safe, natural formulations, with no delays for allergy testing prior to treatment. The simple procedure can be done during your lunch hour and the effects are immediate!

Both products are made of hyaluronic acid, a natural component of the skin that decreases as we age.

Restylane Family of Products include Restylane®, Restylane® Silk, Restylane® Lyft, Restylane® Refyne and Restylane® Defyne.

Juvéderm® Family of Products include Juvéderm® XC, Juvéderm Voluma®, Juvéderm® Ultra XC, Juvéderm Volbella® XC, and Juvéderm Vollure™ XC.

What is RESTYLANE and JUVÉDERM made of?
Restylane® and Juvéderm® are the only cosmetic dermal fillers made of non-animal-based hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that already exists in the human body that integrates into dermal tissue attracting and binding to water molecules, which in return provides volume and fullness to the skin. It also delivers nutrients, makes skin elastic, and helps retain moisture. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane® and Juvéderm® is a Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid (NASHA) that is biodegradable and completely biocompatible with human hyaluronic acid.
How is RESTYLANE and JUVÉDERM different than other Hyaluronic Acid-based products? Are they safe?
Unlike other Hyaluronic Acid-based products, such as those made from rooster combs, only Restylane® and Juvéderm® dermal fillers are non-animal-based. Both products have a long history of safety and excellence. This quality virtually eliminates any risk of animal-based disease transmission or allergic reaction. The most commonly reported side effects were temporary redness and swelling at the injection site. These effects typically resolve within two to three days.
What should patients do prior to treatment?
Restylane® and Juvéderm® require no pre-testing, but one should take a few precautions before being treated. Avoid using aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, St. John’s Wort, or high doses of Vitamin E supplements prior to treatment, because these may increase bruising or bleeding at the injection site. Also, if you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, there is a risk that the needle punctures could contribute to another recurrence.
Can RESTYLANE and JUVÉDERM be used anywhere on the face?

Restylane® and Juvéderm® have been used in more than one million treatments in over 60 countries to correct a variety of wrinkles and to enhance the appearance and fullness of lips. However, it is currently indicated in the U.S. only for the treatment of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Restylane® and Juvéderm are beneficial for lifting and contouring your cheeks, filling in wrinkles, fine lines, and folds, plumping lips and smoothing vertical lip lines.  Prior to administering Restylane® or Juvéderm®, an aesthetic consultation is required with our expert physician. At that time, he will determine the areas in need of treatment and discuss with you the best way to reach your cosmetic goals. Treatment same day if requested.

Here are a few of the common issues dermal fillers can help address:

  • Cheeks
  • Lips
  • Chin
  • Nose Bridge
  • Smokers’ lines or lipstick lines: vertical lines above the upper lip
  • Smile lines: parentheses on both sides of the mouth
  • Nasolabial folds: lines that run from the nose to the corners of the mouth

Marionette lines: lines that run from the corners of the mouth down to the chin

How long does RESTYLANE and JUVÉDERM last?

Studies have shown that the average treatment results for Restylane last six to nine months and for Juvéderm lasts for eight to twelve months, or up to two years depending on the product being used. Keep in mind, rapid metabolism would cause the product to be absorbed quicker by the body.

How often should I have RESTYLANE and JUVÉDERM treatments done?

Restylane® and Juvéderm® last twice as long as collagen, so treatments are typically scheduled once or twice a year. Evidence shows that having a touch-up treatment before the product has fully dissipated will enhance the lasting effect.

How is RESTYLANE and JUVÉDERM different from BOTOX Cosmetic?

Restylane® and Juvéderm® are natural, cosmetic fillers. In contrast, BOTOX Cosmetic® is a cosmetic injectable made from a neurotoxin called Botulinum Toxin that blocks nerve transmission and relaxes the underlying muscles. Many patients have been very pleased after receiving treatment with both products.

How is RESTYLANE and JUVÉDERM different from Bovine Collagen?

Restylane® and Juvéderm® are proven to deliver a longer-lasting effect than traditional collagen, with virtually no risk of animal-based disease transmission or allergic reaction. In addition, Bovine Collagen is derived from animals (cow) and requires an allergy test. Because Restylane® and Juvéderm® are non-animal-based, it can be administered without pretesting, so no waiting is required.

Do dermal filler injections hurt? What are the side effects?

Restylane® and Juvéderm® are injected directly into the skin in tiny amounts by an ultrafine needle, resulting in minimal discomfort. The procedure is simple and convenient, and results are practically instantaneous. Because you might have some swelling or redness in the areas of injections, it may take a couple more days to see optimal results. To optimize your comfort during the short procedure, the treatment area may be locally anesthetized, or the use of a chiller can be requested.

Side effects are mild to moderate lasting 7 days or less, and include temporary injection site reactions like redness, pain, firmness, bruising, swelling, and small bumps.

How long does the treatment take?

The procedure is quick – the actual injection portion only takes about 10-15 minutes, once your face wrinkle pattern has been sorted out by our expert physician. However, if you would like to have a topical numbing agent applied prior to injection to reduce discomfort, it will be an additional 20 minutes for numbing.

How quickly can I get back to my daily activities?

Patients are able to resume their normal activities following treatment.

When will I be able to apply make-up after treatment?

If no complications are present, make-up may be applied right after treatment.

How much do RESTYLANE and JUVÉDERM treatments cost?

Restylane® and Juvéderm® are a customized procedure based on your specific needs, so the cost will vary from patient to patient. In general, the cost of Restylane® and Juvéderm® are comparable to the cost of similar dermal filler treatments. Because Restylane® and Juvéderm® are longer lasting, it proves to be very economical over the long term.
