Silicone has been used for the past 50 years in Europe, mostly in the lips and always using the micro-droplet injection technique. Using this technique, only tiny droplets in small quantities are placed in the lips and because of this it usually takes about three to five sessions to achieve beautiful full lips that will last for up to thirty years. The sessions are about one month apart. When making a consultation for the lips I request that you bring a close up picture of yourself, not smiling, usually somewhere in your twenties or thirties. This is usually the lips we want to obtain again – natural and full but certainly not the Ubangi look. On the other hand you might say that you have never had lips and in that case I ask you to bring in a picture of the lips that you want. The use of silicone has been approved by the FDA for ocular use and when used for lips is considered an off label use.
